Our Story
I’m Mallisa, a passionate home baker and mom from Ventura, California. What began as simple baking sessions with my daughter in our kitchen quickly blossomed into something much bigger — The Uncommon Baker Project.
The Uncommon Baker Project is our joyful mother-daughter journey that combines artisanal, from-scratch baking with real-world entrepreneurship. In our home kitchen, I bake and sell all our cottage food products on one side, while my daughter learns and creates on her own side — none of which is sold to customers. Together, we’re turning flour, butter, and big dreams into something meaningful.
Through The Uncommon Sense School, we share everything we’re learning along the way. From mastering recipes like our Butter-Top White Sandwich Bread and Sticky Cinnamon Rolls, to navigating California cottage food laws, pricing, marketing, and building a small baking business — we’re teaching practical skills with a generous dose of encouragement and real-life lessons.
At its heart, this is about more than baking bread. It’s about building confidence, fostering creativity, and proving that with passion and “uncommon sense,” anyone can create something beautiful and profitable right from their own kitchen. Welcome to our kitchen. We’re so glad you’re here.
